A lightning storm moved across the Douglas District Tuesday afternoon, resulting in numerous
lightning strikes that spanned the majority of the district. DFPA is currently flying a detection flight over the lightning effected areas and staff in DFPA’s Fire Detection Center is monitoring the path that the storm tracked. Currently, six fires have been detected, the largest of which is the Days Coffee Fire, located 6 miles northwest of Tiller. The Days Coffee Fire has spread into an active logging operation and is currently estimated to be 10 acres in size, burning in fell and bucked timber. A fixed wing observation aircraft, one helicopter, and two engines are currently on scene of the fire. Additional resources have been ordered for the Days Coffee Fire and are en-route to the incident. At this time no homes are threatened by the fire.

Tater Tie Fire, 10 miles north of Tiller. 1/100th acre
