Milepost 113 Fire

A natural cover fire burned a quarter acre of grass Monday afternoon about four miles northwest of Myrtle Creek near I-5 Milepost 113 southbound. Crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and both the Myrtle Creek and Winston – Dillard Fire Departments arrived on scene of the incident around 4:15 PM. Prior to their arrival, several passing motorists had stopped and attempted to suppress the fire. The Milepost 113 Fire was quickly contained as it was surrounded on three sides by Interstate 5, the exit 113 off ramp, and Clarks Branch Road. The cause of the Milepost 113 Fire is currently under investigation.
