McComas Creek Fires


Crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association responded to a reported fire Tuesday evening located four miles northeast of Glide, near McComas Creek. Firefighters arrived on scene shortly after 11:00 PM and located multiple fires burning in a previously logged unit. While attempting to pinpoint the location and size of each fire, firefighters made contact with a suspect in the area who was believed to be related to the start of the fires. Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office were requested to respond to the incident and eventually took the suspect into custody.


A total of six fires were located in the McComas Creek area with the largest fire around a quarter acre in size. The combined total of all six fires are estimated to be around one acre. Crews remained on scene of the McComas Creek Fires overnight, mopping up hot spots and securing control lines.
