KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Wildfires are burning across Oregon, and several Incident Management Teams have been deployed to support large fires in Southwest Oregon and now Central Oregon. While these incidents may not be in our immediate area, they serve as an important reminder that wildfire season is well underway.
Here in the Douglas District, we are currently at HIGH Fire Danger. Hot, dry conditions mean a fire can spread quickly, leaving little time to prepare when an evacuation is issued.
The time to get ready is NOW—not when smoke is visible from your backyard.
Take a few minutes today to:
Create and maintain defensible space within the first 0–20 feet around your home.
Build a go-kit for every member of your household, including your pets.
Learn Oregon's three evacuation levels so you'll know exactly what to do if one is issued.
Sign up for Douglas Alerts to receive emergency notifications directly from local officials.
Bookmark local evacuation maps and road condition resources before you need them.
Remember Oregon's evacuation levels:
LEVEL 1 – BE READY
Stay informed. Review your evacuation plan. Gather essential items and be prepared to leave if conditions change.
LEVEL 2 – BE SET
There is significant danger in your area. Be ready to leave at a moment's notice. Load your go-kit, and if you need extra time to evacuate, leave now.
LEVEL 3 – GO NOW
Leave immediately. Do not delay. Follow directions from emergency officials and evacuate without waiting for additional notice.
Being prepared today can reduce stress, save valuable time, and help protect what matters most. Taking simple steps now—before an evacuation is issued—can make all the difference when every minute counts.
Follow fire restrictions and help Keep Oregon Green.
