A tree into the powerlines sparked a wildfire eight miles south of Elkton, early Monday Morning. Crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and Kellogg Rural Fire Department responded to the Hutchinson Wayside Fire around 3:45 AM, which was located between Highway 138 West and Kellogg Camp Lane. A response from the power company was required to de-energize the power lines before firefighters could fully contain the fire. The Hutchinson Wayside Fire burned a quarter acre of wildland fuels before the forward spread of the fire was stopped. Crews remained on scene of the Hutchinson Wayside Fire until 10:30 AM, mopping up hot spots and securing control lines.
