Crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and Douglas County Fire District #2 suppressed a grass fire Tuesday evening near the Winchester Dam Fish Ladder. The Fish Ladder Fire was reported around 6:30 PM and crews arrived on scene of the fire within minutes of the report. The fire burned 1/10th acre of grass and brush before crews stopped the forward spread of the fire. Firefighters remained on scene the fire for about a half hour, mopping up hot spots and securing control lines. A preliminary fire investigation indicated that the cause of the Fish Ladder Fire was cigarette related.
