OLALLA ROAD FIRE — WINSTON, ORE.

On Saturday, August 22, 2026, at approximately 3 p.m., crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA), Central Douglas Fire & Rescue, Lookingglass Rural Fire District, Camas Valley Volunteer Fire District, and Tenmile Rural Fire District responded to a report of a natural cover fire near the 3300 block of Upper Olalla Road in Winston, Oregon.

Upon arrival, firefighters found an estimated 3-acre fire moving uphill.

Through coordination between all responding agencies, crews stopped the fire’s forward spread and built dozer line around 100% of the perimeter. Mop-up operations were completed on the 23-acre fire, and the fire was transitioned into patrol status.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be human-caused and remains under active investigation.

No homes or structures were threatened by the fire.

DFPA responding resources included five engines, one squad, one dozer, one Type 2 helicopter, one fixed-wing Air Attack, and overhead command staff.

DIMMICK CREEK FIRE — SUTHERLIN, ORE.

On Monday, August 24, 2026, at approximately 9:57 a.m., resources from the Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA), Sutherlin Fire Department, and Fair Oaks Rural Fire District were dispatched to a reported natural cover fire near the 400 block of Northside Road in Sutherlin, Oregon.

Upon arrival, crews found an industrial operator actively constructing a dozer line around the perimeter of the 0.27-acre fire.

DFPA resources, including five engines, one Type 2 helicopter, one fixed-wing Air Attack, and overhead command staff, stopped the fire’s forward spread. The fire has transitioned into mop-up operations, with minimal smoke visible in the area as crews continue progress.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No homes or structures were threatened by the fire.
