Firefighters assigned to the Days Creek Road Fire, located 14 miles northeast of Canyonville made good progress on the fire overnight as crews were able to complete fire line and install hose lays around the entire perimeter of the fire. There is about 800 feet of indirect fire line on the northern side of the fire, meaning that there is still unburned fuel between the fire’s edge and the control line. Constructing direct containment line against the edge of the fire in this area will be one of the main priorities for today’s resources assigned to the incident.
Today, 115 personnel are assigned to the Days Creek Road fire and will be holding and improving fire lines in addition to mopping up hot spots. Two helicopters are still assigned to the incident and will be used throughout the day as needed.
The Days Creek Road Fire is still estimated to be 35 acres in size. More accurate mapping of the fire will be completed in the coming days, as time allows.
