Days Creek Road Fire: Monday Evening Update

Aviation and ground resources assigned to the Days Creek Road Fire, which is located approximately 14 miles northeast of Canyonville, made good progress throughout the day on Monday, working to contain the fire. At Monday evening’s briefing, the day shift Incident Commander reported that the construction of fire line and the installation of hose lays have been completed around 80% of the fire, which is still estimated to be 35 acres in size. Fire activity diminished as nightfall set in and favorable firefighting conditions are expected overnight.


Tonight, 85 firefighters will be assigned to and actively engaged on the Days Creek Road Fire. Resources assigned to the incident overnight will be focusing their efforts on strengthen and improve existing fire lines, in addition to completing fire lines around the remaining untrailed portion of the fire.

In addition to DFPA resources, equipment and personnel from industrial landowners, industrial operators and contractors, Oregon Department of Forestry, Coos Forest Protective Association, Bureau of Land Management, and the Umpqua National Forest are assisting with suppression efforts.
