Firefighters from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and Tri-City Rural Fire Department responded to a grass fire Sunday afternoon in the 1,000 block of Aviation Drive, near Myrtle Creek. Crews arrived on scene of the fire around 3:45 p.m. and located the slow moving grass fire burning in a field behind the Myrtle Creek Airport. Firefighters stopped the Aviation Drive Fire at a quarter acre of grass and remained on scene for about a half hour, mopping up hot sports. A preliminary investigation indicated that the cause of the fire was related to agricultural equipment, working in the area.
