DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore:
The Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA) will conduct live-fire training exercises throughout the week as part of its ongoing training.
Training will take place at pre-designated sites specifically prepared for live-fire exercises, with control lines constructed around each training area to safely contain the fire. These hands-on exercises provide firefighters with valuable experience in fire suppression tactics, hose deployment, and incident coordination under controlled conditions.
In addition to firefighter training, these exercises will provide valuable hands-on opportunities for DFPA's newly onboarded camera detection staff and dispatch operators, allowing personnel to practice wildfire detection, reporting, communication, and coordinated response procedures in a realistic training scenario.
Residents may notice smoke during the following scheduled training exercises:
· Tuesday, June 23, through Friday, June 26. Smoke may be visible between approximately 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
1. 4000 block of North Bank Road in Roseburg
2. 4000 block of Gazley Road in Myrtle Creek.
· Friday, June 26: Live fire training will be conducted near the 20000 block of OR-138 in Elkton. Smoke may be visible between approximately 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
The public is reminded that these are planned training exercises conducted under the supervision of experienced instructors. Live-fire training is an essential component of preparing firefighters with the skills and experience needed to respond safely and effectively to wildland fires throughout the Douglas District.
DFPA appreciates the public's understanding as we continue training the next generation of wildland firefighters.
