PUBLIC USE RESTRICTIONS

Regulated Use Closure Effective October 1, 2007 has been Suspended

1)      Smoking is prohibited, except in vehicles or buildings.

2)      Open fires are prohibited.  This includes campfires, charcoal fires, cooking fires and warming fires.  Backyard burning, including debris piles and incinerators, is also prohibited. Portable cooking stoves using liquefied or bottled fuels are allowed. Designated Campgrounds.

3)      Power saw use is prohibited between 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.  When permitted, each saw must have one axe, one shovel and one 8 oz. or larger fire extinguisher. In addition, a fire watch is required for at least one hour following the use of each saw.

4)      The use of motor vehicles, including motorcycles and all terrain vehicles, is prohibited, except on improved roads or for agricultural purposes.

5)      While traveling in wildland areas, each vehicle must have at least one axe, one shovel and one gallon of water or fully charged and operational 2 ½  pound or larger fire extinguisher.  ATV’s and motorcycles must be equipped with one operational 2.5 pound or larger ABC type fire extinguisher, except when traveling on state and county roads.

6)      The use of fireworks is prohibited.

7)      The cutting, grinding and welding of metal in dry, grassy or forested areas is prohibited.

8)      The use of exploding targets is also prohibited.

9)       The mowing of dried and cured grass with power driven equipment is prohibited between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., except for agricultural purposes.
