FIRE RESTRICTIONS EASED
September 17, 2007

Recent cool and damp weather conditions have prompted the Douglas Forest Protective Association to lower the Industrial Fire Precaution Level.  Effective immediately, DFPA zones DG-1, DG-2, UA-1 and UA-2 will drop to IFPL 1 (one). Operators should check their notification permits to determine what zone that they are working in.

Under IFPL 1, industrial operators must follow all fire prevention requirements, including possessing the proper fire tools and water supply.  A one-hour fire watch is also required when the operation shuts down at the end of the work day.

Fire danger is still present throughout Douglas County and residents should continue to exercise caution when working or recreating outdoors.  Smoking, cutting and welding, off-road driving and open fires such as campfires and debris burning fires remains prohibited under DFPA’s Regulated Use Closure for the general public.  For a complete list of fire restrictions log onto www.dfpa.net or call the Association’s information line at (541) 672-0379.
