EQUIPMENT

DFPA relies on a vast array of equipment sufficient to serve the protection needs of the 1.6 million acres we protect.  We have split our District into 16 patrol areas that are covered by Forest Officers in 200-gallon engines.  These 4 x 4 wildland fire engines make up the heart of DFPA's initial attack firefighting force and are supplemented with two bulldozers, three 1000-gallon engines and one 3,000-gallon tender.  Another key initial attack resource is DFPA's fire suppression helicopter.  The medium size ship is under contract from July 15th through September 15th each fire season. Depending on the weather, the contract has the option of an extension if needed.  Reserve resources include two 200-gallon engines, one 1000-gallon engine, one 1500-gallon engine, one bulldozer and one mobile command post vehicle.
